With a team of 18 skilled artisans working in its production workshop, Claude Dozorme manufactures all of its products on site, producing up to 800 pieces per day. From steel cutting and blade grinding to polishing and final assembly, the key stages of production have remained true to the brand’s traditions for over a century. At the same time, modern technologies have been integrated to create products that are both innovative and deeply rooted in craftsmanship—whether knives, forks, or champagne sabres.
In 1993, the company moved into a new, larger, and more efficient facility. This 700 m² contemporary building brings together workshops, offices, and a showroom displaying the full Claude Dozorme collection. Significant investments were made to modernize production, including laser cutting technology—among the first in Thiers—and precision grinding centers. These advancements allow the creation of exclusive collections and limited series that reflect evolving market trends.
At the heart of every Claude Dozorme piece is the careful selection of steel. Whether stainless or Damascus, each steel is chosen for its cutting performance, durability, and ease of sharpening. Every year,
nearly 10 tons of high-quality steel sourced from leading French, German, and Swedish steelmakers are transformed in the workshop.
The manufacturing process begins with digital design, ensuring exceptional precision and creative freedom. Blades are then laser-cut to an accuracy of a tenth of a millimeter, heat-treated, hardened,
and carefully ground to achieve optimal sharpness and longevity.
Handles—crafted from materials such as wood, horn, leather, or plexiglass—are shaped, assembled, and polished by hand for a flawless finish.
Each knife undergoes meticulous sharpening, laser engraving, and strict quality control before leaving the workshop. More than 45 steps—many of them still performed by hand—are required to create a single knife, reflecting the brand’s unwavering commitment to excellence, precision, and French savoir-faire.
