From the very beginning, Vent de Voyage has embraced sustainability by recovering and recycling large racing sails from iconic boats, including Fuji, Gitana, and GROUPE GCA–1001 SOURIRES, the vessel of famed sailor Gilles Lamiré. Each bag tells a unique maritime story - some sails are donated by sailing enthusiasts, such as an Optimist champion whose well-traveled sails still show their official gauge pads, used to craft a special birthday gift.
Others come from passionate sailors and nautical clubs, like a recent donation of colorful vintage sails from the Hauts-de-France. We preserve every authentic detail: numbers, eyelets, ropes, gauge pads, and stitching are integrated into each design, honoring the history of the sail and the spirit of the sea.
Since relocating our workshop to Dinard in 2018, we’ve upheld a model of artisanal, small-scale production. Every piece is made by hand with precision and passion, respecting traditional techniques. Our skilled artisans use methods inspired by sailmaking: saddle-stitching, hand-inserted leather accents, and finishing guided by the human eye - not machines.
We also offer repairs to extend the life of our bags, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable fashion.
