Flat frame printing, a traditional technique invented in Lyon around 1850, is an ancestral method long used by Lyon’s silk manufacturers. This artisanal screen-printing process allows for the creation of intricate, multicolor designs - up to 45 shades - making it ideal for small batches and unique pieces such as silk scarves.

Each frame is crafted to match the exact size of the product and features a photo-engraved polyester mesh that acts as a stencil. Color is precisely applied with a squeegee, passing through permeable sections of the gauze to transfer the design onto the silk with unmatched depth, detail, and texture.

This demanding process involves multiple expert stages - from preparing the silk and printing tables, to developing the perfect color paste and mastering the manual gestures required. Only seasoned artisans can ensure flawless alignment, color harmony, and finesse.
