Gevrey-Chambertin "Les Champs Chenys" 2021 – Hospices de Nuits
The Domaine des Hospices de Nuits, founded in 1270, is a historic Burgundy estate predating the Hospices de Beaune by nearly two centuries. Established as a philanthropic institution, it survived through the generosity of local families who donated vineyards in exchange for care and support. This unique legacy combines heritage, charitable purpose, and exceptional winemaking tradition.
Vineyards & Prestige
Although smaller than its Beaune counterpart, the Domaine covers 12.5 hectares of prime vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Premier Cru, and Gevrey-Chambertin—areas celebrated worldwide for producing outstanding wines. Each year, barrels from the estate are auctioned at the prestigious Château du Clos Vougeot on the third Sunday of March. Acquiring these wines is both an investment in world-class Burgundy and a contribution to the Domaine’s noble charitable mission.
Élevage – Expert Aging for Optimal Expression
Under the guidance of Jean-Marc Moron, trained by renowned winemaker Roland Masse, the Domaine produces wines of exceptional quality. Like other Hospices wines, those sold at auction are very young, harvested only months before the event. After purchase, my father, with over 35 years of experience in wine maturation, supervises a careful 16–18 month élevage process. This ensures that each wine develops fully, respecting the terroir and revealing the unique nuances, depth, and complexity of the prestigious Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin appellations.
